......  for the the outstanding British made Rootes TS3 diesel engines).

These unique opposed piston, two-stroke diesel engines were once prolific throughout NZ, Australia, UK and other countries around the world represented by Rootes Commercial Vehicle Dealerships and were predominantly used in the heavy range of Commer trucks manufactured between 1954 and 1973.

They were serviced and maintained by dealerships and knowledgeable diesel mechanics all over NZ, Australia and around the world from the mid 1950's through to the mid 1990's in some cases.

A lot of these engines also found there way into launches and a few yachts around the world with a significant number appearing in NZ and Australian launches.

Just as in the Commer TS3 trucks, the Rootes TS3 engines served with great distinction in marine applications offering astonishing power density, fuel economy, reliability and engine life.

They are a "flat" engine meaning the overall height of the engine is low and this is particularly desirable in launches because the engine can usually sit completely below the cabin floor instead of occupying valuable cabin space in an "engine box"..

However, the passage of time since the TS3 engine production was terminated by Rootes new owners (Chrysler) means the people and businesses that once offered  service, maintenance, parts, reconditioning and other related services for these thorobred engines are all long gone.

This presents a considerable problem to veteran truck operators, restorers and launch owners when their Commer Knocker TS3engine need anything from technical advice to repairs, maintenance, parts or reconditioning.

This generally leads to the launch owners having to consider re-powering the launch with some other type of "current" diesel engine, which almost always turns into an extremely expensive and lengthy nightmare for the owner due to the vast number of other things in the launch that also need to be changed / altered / upgraded or replaced along with the engine.

Therefore, it is very important that those owners using Rootes (Commer) TS3 engines know about this service, because we continue to service, maintain and recondition and provide new parts for these fine engines.

The cost of us fully reconditioning a Rootes (Commer) TS3 is a fraction of the cost of re-powering a launch with a new engine of some description and by fully reconditioning the existing TS3 engine, they will do another 15,000 hours or so with none of the other additional costs and frustrations that always come with re-powers.

All parts, service, maintenance and reconditioned engines are guaranteed.
